Midnight

2008-05-29
|
Location: Florida
Midnight came to rescue when her owner moved out of state and was unable to take her. She is 3-1/2 years old and weighs 14 pounds. Midnight is a Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix standing 10" tall at the shoulder and is a bit stocky. She is already housebroken and crate trained. She is an active girl, but also likes to sit on your lap for all the attention you can give her. She also loves to swim in the pool! Midnight will stand on the sunning deck and swim out to you when called. She is good with older children and cats. She will need a terrier-wise owner, as she doesn't always get along well with other dogs. This little girl is a real sweetheart but needs a home with no other dogs.

Helen

|
Location: Georgia
I'm Helen, and I need a forever home. I'm about 5 years old and I weigh about 16 lbs. I'm a loving little girl and a wannabe lap baby. Although I've been living with other dogs in my fosterhome, I am rather bossy with them and I'm probably best suited to be an only dog. Maybe it was my "alpha female" attitude that contributed to past run-ins with bigger dogs, and I have battle scars to prove it. Oh, and I do bark at and chase the cat; she usually turns around and swats me, but I keep trying to catch up and play with her. I'm nothing but adoring and affectionate with people (who all consider me a darling!). I've never been around really young people, but I'd do fine with older (8+ years) kids. I have lots of energy and love to run and chase squirrels! I also love sleeping on the bed with my fostermom, even though she makes me sleep in my crate at night. I don't protest unless I have an urgent nature call or hear a scary noise. I've mastered the doggie door and I'm pretty good at letting someone know I need to go out when it's closed. Surely there's a perfect home for a sweet girl like me?

Thistle McWood

2008-04-04
|
Adopted!
Location: Indiana
Thistle McWood is a wonderful, friendly little 7-year-old who was found wandering the streets in southern Indiana. She spent three weeks at the local shelter until Ratbone was called in. She is quiet and shy and would love a nice warm quiet home with maybe one other dog. She is also fine with cats. This extemely gentle and kind girl is housetrained, crate trained, and leash trained, and would make an excellent small home or apartment dog. Since Thistle McWood (a/k/a "Betty") is so small and delicate (she weighs only 9 lbs. and is 11" tall), it's doubtful that she would be a good match for young children, and it's likely that she would try to hide from them. If you need a gentle sweet companion to melt your heart, look no further!

Jazzi

2008-06-11
|
Location: Michigan
Jazzi is a lively, funny pup. She is 6 months old and black as coal with a white chest. She is 11" tall but weighs only 8.5 pounds, as she is always running too fast for weight to catch up to her. Jazzi is trying to learn her manners, but is so excited with life that sometimes it's really hard to remember them. She's housetrained and crate trained, but is still a puppy who can get excited and forget so will need to be kept on a schedule. She loves people of all sizes and ages, but because she loves to jump, she'd be better off in a home without very small children. She gets along great with other dogs and cats; however, she does like to play with the cats, even when they don?t want to play with her! Once the cats give her a little cuff, she?s off to explore new adventures. Jazzi will fit in well with any family that understands that puppies need guidelines and gentleness, and have tons of energy. She'd do best with a fenced yard, since she needs to run and play. She loves to chase her squeaky ball and learns quickly, so would likely do great learning fly ball and/or agility.

Checkers

2007-06-11
|
Location: New York
Checkers is the smallest pup from her litter, which was rescued from a Georgia shelter. She is very sweet and loving and loves to go outside and to be right with you, wherever you go. Now, in early June, she is believed to be 15 weeks old and weighs about 9 lbs. She is expected to be about 20 lbs. when full grown. Like most puppies, Checkers will jump up on you for love and attention, but she is not as bouncy as her siblings and is learning better manners, so her fostermom thinks she would be ok with small children. She gets along great with other dogs but, probably because of being the smallest, learned that she had to guard her food so she will growl and "attack" other dogs if they try to get in her food bowl, so she does need monitoring and training. Checkers is about 80% housetrained, and will soon master this. She is inquisitive and very active, just like any healthy puppy.
